The most popular travel posts on my blog this year – 2021 round up

As we venture full-throttle into 2022, I thought I’d do an end of year round up of the most popular travel blog posts on my travel blog this year! Travel might have been a bit stop-start in 2021, but despite COVID reaping havoc around the world it seems that many of you still have a desire to keep travelling. So for the curious who want to know the top performing travel posts on The Scrapbook Of Life in 2021, and those who want to be filled with wanderlust inspiration for 2022, here are my top 10 most popular travel blog posts this year!

1. 9 Absolute Best Things To Do In St Julians, Malta

Traditional Maltese Luzzu fishing boats on Spinola Bay, St Julians, Malta - 10 Most Popular Travel Posts On My Blog This Year [2021 Round Up]
Spinola Bay, St Julians

Back in April, rumour had it that Malta would open its doors to vaccinated travellers, and it did in June (psst… I have no idea what the current rules are). And it seemed that this sparked a whole lot of interest in this Mediterranean island, because the absolute best things to do in St Julians became (and continues to be) THE top performing travel post on The Scrapbook Of Life. From seeing the Luzzu fishing boats on Spinola Bay to eating chocolate smothered fluffy pancakes in Shoreditch Kitchen and Bar, this travel guide will help you see the very best of the former fishing village of St Julians.

2. How To Get From St Julians To Valletta – The 4 Best Options

Staying in Malta, the second of the most popular travel blog posts this year is how to get from St Julians to Valletta – the 4 best options. It seems that Malta really has been one of the top places to travel, and I predict this trend will continue (COVID permitting) as more and more discover this idyllic island. If you visit off peak, St Julians could make for one of the cheapest places to travel in 2022, and a day trip to Valletta is compulsory on any Malta itinerary. This post details exactly how to get from St Julians to Valletta, so you can sample the charm of the Baroque and stonewashed capital of the island hassle-free.

3. 11 Absolute Best Things To Do In Rhodes Town, Greece

Greece is always high up on the list of summer holiday destinations, especially for us Brits. It’s alluring Mediterranean charm is irresistible, and the idea of island-hopping around the Greek archipelago is the stuff dreams are made of. For a while, this short travel blog post was topping the charts here at The Scrapbook Of Life, but now it sits consistently at third place. The medieval city of Rhodes Old Town is utterly captivating, with its network of cobbled streets, squares and lanes, historic old town walls and gorgeous harbours. From the Windmills of Mandraki to the Old Town itself, this post explores the unmissable things to do in the city

4. 3 Days In London – An Itinerary For The Perfect Weekend Break + FAQs

For obvious reasons I need not explore, the staycation trend has prevailed in 2021. Undoubtedly, this is (probably) set to continue into 2022, as COVID continues to interfere with the international travel industry. For my UK audience, London is probably an obvious choice for a staycation due to its abundance of things to do and see, and the continued success of this travel itinerary blog post seems to justify my assumption. This itinerary for 3 days in London blog post breaks down your days into central, north and east London, so you can maximise your time and see as much of the big smoke (including well-known attractions and hidden gems) as possible in just 72 hours.

5. The Perfect 7 Day Motorhome Itinerary For Scotland

For me, road trippin’ in a campervan has been a part of my 2021 travel plans as I have felt it was a pretty safe option being self-contained and all that jazz. Interest in Scotland as a travel destination just seems to be growing exponentially, probably due mostly to its enchanting scenery. I believe one of the best ways to explore Scotland is to saddle up in a motorhome and get on the open road, and this example travel itinerary shows you just how to do this. Starting and ending in Inverness, it shares a super detailed step-by-step route suggestion, including information about campsites, fuel stations, distance, and some of the best things to do in the Scottish Highlands along your way!

6. 9 Absolute Best Things To Do In Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife

Playa Jardin, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands - 10 Most Popular Travel Posts On My Blog This Year [2021 Round Up]!
Playa Jardin, Tenerife

Located on the north coast of the island of Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz is a charming fishing village turned town that is sometimes overlooked in favour of the more popular resort towns of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. But like the other members of my lovely international audience who have helped to make this one of my best travel posts of 2021, you should take a read and consider visiting this wonderful town. From black sandy beaches like Playa Jardin to the quaint streets of the Old Quarter, this post will give you a whole lot of travel inspiration and leave you wanting to visit the Canary Islands in 2022.

7. Ultimate 3 Week Itinerary For Singapore, Malaysia and Bali + Trip Costs

This travel itinerary is one of the travel blog posts I’ve enjoyed creating the most to date, probably in part because it was one of the most epic trips I have ever been on with a too-good-to-be-true overall cost. Splitting it down day by day, this itinerary will take you to the multicultural hive of activity and glamour of Singapore, the idyllic tax-free island of Langkawi, the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur, and to the serenity of the Indonesian island of Bali. Sharing travel tips, suggestions of things to do, information on how to get from place to place, and an exact breakdown of trip costs, this blog post is all you could ever need to have the most bucket list worthy trip of your life!

8. The Very Best Day Trip To Gozo and Comino [Blue Lagoon] From Malta

Back in Malta (again), the eighth blog post on this list of most popular travel posts on The Scrapbook Of Life in 2021 is all about the very best day trip you can take to the islands of Gozo and Comino – Malta’s sister islands. Gozo is the second largest of the Maltese archipelago and is a charming island full of green countryside, quaint villages and a rocky coastline. Comino is the third largest, and is home to the world-famous azure waters of the Blue Lagoon which is one of the most unique places to visit in Europe. This boat trip is great for the kids who pretend to be adults amongst us, because the boat has an underwater viewing area and a slide (what more could you want?).

9. 27 Insanely Useful Travel Tips For Bali, Indonesia

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, Bali, Indonesia - 10 Most Popular Travel Posts On My Blog This Year [2021 Round Up]!
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, Bali

Bali is my spirit island, and after 2 incredible visits and a whole load of plans to go back as many times as humanly possible alongside a 9-5 and dreams to see the rest of the world, I decided to create a travel tips blog post for those who are planning on visiting. Now I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet, but every single travel tip on this list of travel tips for Bali is a useful piece of knowledge that has been purposely cultivated to help make your trip hassle-free, informed and full of fun, like tip #2 for example: ladies, take sanitary products with you… (if that didn’t leave you wanting more I don’t know what will!)

10. 3 Weeks In Thailand – A Detailed Itinerary + Unbelievable Trip Costs

Thailand is probably one of the most frequented countries in Southeast Asia, due to its affordability, culture, weather, food, and wide array of landscapes (not to mention the availability of luxury for less accommodation). It is a destination which attracts every type of traveller and those in between – the first time budget backpackers, the seasoned adventurers, the full moon party-goers, the every-year without fail holiday makers, and the luxury lovers. So I was not surprised in the least when my 3 weeks in Thailand blog post hit the ground running. It shares all the details you need to have the very best trip in the Land of Smiles!
